Joey / Nick please

'always falling for the easy' - something about that just puts me in mind of these two, maybe in an AU setting, (and when am I not in the mood for beautiful solid boys getting it on, really?) so : pretty please with sugar on top?

I may have misinterpreted a little bit. Please tell me if this isn't what you had in mind.

There was one moment that stuck in Nick’s mind. It came to him at random times. It started with a trickle of warmth that spread through him slowly. It curled his mouth in a soft dreamy smile that he never tried to hide. The memory was of the man that had come to mean so much to him.

It wasn’t when they had first met. He knew that most people would have relished those first moments over and over again. But truth be told he had to laugh when he thought of it. Joey had been covered in flour and had his arm drawn back to throw what had been a huge wad of pizza dough. In the midst of all the flour dust a shriek had sounded and Joey had been attacked from behind. Caught off guard Joey had stumbled forward then started swinging his body wildly to dislodge the person on his back. He lost his balance so quickly that Nick didn’t have time to get out of the way. He ended up with pizza dough in his hair and on his face and a big hard body on top of him. Yeah, he’d lost his breath with the landing and again when those warm, laughing brown eyes had met his and an apology had been stuttered out. But that was a different kind of warmth.

It wasn’t on their first date either. When Joey picked him up in a beat up mustang and took him to Taco Bell and the video arcade because that was all he could afford at the time. But it was the best Taco Supreme Nick had ever had because of the company. They’d shared a kiss that night that had been awkward and new. Nothing to write home about even though the promise was there.

No, the memory was a recent one. Joey had made him a huge dinner of spaghetti and meatballs and had bought a bottle of wine. Their first year anniversary together. Before they had eaten Joey had presented him with a silver chain necklace with a small key on it. When Nick had looked at him with an unsure smile Joey had bit his lower lip for a second before leaning forward and kissing him softly on the mouth.

“To my heart.” he had whispered. Then blushed hard and tried to stop the goofy grin that was threatening to take over his entire face.

The trickle of warmth spread through him slowly and Nick cupped his hand on Joey’s jaw kissing him softly reverently. When they moved apart Nick’s eyes were shining with love. It had never been easier to say the three words he’d always been afraid of.

The ones that declared his love.
