sick pt. 2

Three things happen at once; Justin realizes that Lance is trying to get up because he’s going to vomit once more. Chris comes walking into the room, carrying the prescription that Justin had called him and asked him to pick up. Lance vomits; all over Justin who is still only wearing the robe he slipped on when he was done drying after the shower. Gagging and retching almost as loudly as Lance, Justin moves away from the bed. Lance finally stops vomiting and collapses once more in the bed.

Chris is chuckling. Justin cannot believe that Chris is actually laughing about any of the situation, doesn’t Chris realize how unfunny it all is? Glaring at Chris, Justin stalks once more into the bathroom and turns on the shower, dropping the robe onto the pile of dirt clothes still on the floor. At this rate Justin’s going to be out of body scrub before he has the house and Lance clean again.

Twenty minutes later, he emerges from the shower, his skin bright pink from the scrubbing and the hot water. He wraps a towel around his waist and reenters the bedroom. Chris is sitting on one of the clean edges of the bed; Lance has his head resting on Chris’s leg while Chris runs a washcloth over Lance’s face. Lance looks like he might be asleep once more.

“I’ll help you get him moved into another bedroom if you want,” Chris says. “You’ve got a mess in here and in that bathroom too.” Chris points his free hand towards the master bathroom.

Justin narrows his eyes, “Gee, Chris, you think?”

Chris ignores Justin’s sarcasm and moves the blankets off of Lance, getting an eyeful of the messy state Lance is in. “He needs a bath or something Justin, he’s got it all over himself. You know you could have cleaned him up instead of yourself for once. And what the hell did you feed him that was red? Tell me you didn’t give him tomato soup while he was sick to his stomach?” Chris continues to babble on about how Justin isn’t properly caring for Lance and Justin just tunes him out, getting clean sweats and a tee shirt for Lance from the dresser.

Justin thinks to himself that Chris should shut up, it’s not like Lance is Chris’ boyfriend and it’s not like Chris has had to deal with Lance since Lance got sick. Justin is Lance’s boyfriend and Justin has been taking care of Lance since he got sick. Lance didn’t start throwing up until recently, so it’s not like Justin’s been neglecting him, which is what it sounds like he’s suggesting. Justin’s been damn good about taking care of Lance, he’s made sure to keep him in bed where he was warm, he’s made sure to feed Lance and remind Lance to take his medication, he’s even cleaned up all those filthy tissues off the bed and floor when Lance missed the wastebasket. He does admit that he really should get Lance cleaned up and in the other room.

He hands the clothing to Chris and scoops Lance up in his arms. He’s carried Lance before, but usually Lance is squirming and fussing to be set down, so while it’s easier to walk while holding Lance right now, Justin finds it very disturbing that Lance just lays in his arms and whimpers.

Chris follows Justin all the way into the guest bathroom and helps hold Lance upright as Justin strips him out of the soiled clothing. “Have you taken him to see a doctor?” Chris asks.

“Yes and no. Lance started feeling bad the other day, stomach cramps, nausea and all that happy horseshit; so Lance went to see the doctor. He came home and said that the doctor thinks Lance has a mild case of food poisoning.”

Chris arches his eyebrow at Justin, “this isn’t mild food poisoning Justin. Look at him, he’s totally out of it and he’s feverish.” Chris releases Lance totally to Justin’s arms once they have him striped down.

“Yeah, I know this Chris, that’s why I called the doctor and had him come here yesterday. I was afraid to take Lance out of the house. Anyway, he does still have a mild case of food poisoning, but on top of that Lance apparently caught some stomach-viral-infection thing that has been going around lately. The doctor gave him a shot and some medication to take and ordered that prescription you picked up for me. The one thing was bad enough, but the two combined and well, you see the result.”
