Brian-centric song!fic
Just because I'm still exploding [on the inside] from the video, I can't help it.
I would looooove a Brian-centered fic based on Incomplete lyrics. You can include them in the fic, or not, and pair him with anyone, though my preferences would definitely be Nick or Alex.
Thank you, so incredibly much, in advance!!!

Brian watched as AJ stood in the half circle of Nick’s arm. The joke was he would look slightly put out, but they were all having too much fun being on tour together. So, AJ stood there, grinning like an idiot and Nick semi-insulted him. Nick leaned over and kissed AJ’s cheek. A swift smack that Brian knew from experience was warm and more than a bit wet. Now AJ was wearing the appropriate expression and Nick was grinning like an idiot.
He told himself he loved his wife.
And he really did. She was a wonderful woman, loyal and patient and far too understanding. She’d known for years what Brian was only now coming to understand and she hadn’t gone anywhere. Leighanne had given him the one thing he had always wanted. Brian smiled like a proud papa when Baylee came out on stage during sound check. He watched as Nick set up the itty-bitty mic stand so Baylee could ‘check his levels’ along with the rest of them. Offstage Leighanne beamed at her, their, son. Brian beamed along with her. She was good people and he did love her. Just not entirely.
He told himself it was wrong.
Nick had been staying on AJ’s bus for most of the tour. Nick’s sexual preferences had ceased being a problem when Brian and Leighanne were married. Before that they had kept Brian up at night. He had been raised a certain way, and regardless of what his heart had told him, his brain had said something else. It took him far too long to learn he should tell it to be quiet.
He told himself Nick had been too young.
Nick had been a child when they’d started the group. Pre-teen was the pc term. Brian had felt so very old and mature in comparison. Nick had been like a wound up puppy. All full of bright laughter and endless energy. But he’d worked just as hard as the rest of them. Often harder. Lou was pleased long before Jane would say it was ‘good. But there’s always room for improvement’. They were all like that at first. Nick was the only one who’d stayed that way.
Nick had been too young. It was the one place Brian always got hung up. Because he was right, and because Brian wondered how things would be different if he’d just figured out he could wait. Nick could wait. That they could have waited together. Nick had been 15 when he’d come to Brian’s room and told him that he was gay. Gay and interested in Brian. Brian had said Nick was too young. It was the easiest way out.
He told himself hiatus had been the best time of his life.
Hiatus had been good. Brian had been able to build up the façade of the life he was living. He left the life of Brian Littrell Backstreet Boy in a warehouse in Orlando and became Brian Littrell, devoted husband, father, perfect Christian. For a while he actually enjoyed it. Baylee was a miracle in more ways than his birth. Life was simple, and Brian had to admit. Good. Eventually though, he missed the guys. Missed making music, life on the road. And Nick. He really missed Nick.
Just when Brian thought he was actually going to lose hold on his perfect life for want of those things, Oprah called. You just didn’t turn down Oprah. And he missed them.
Now Brian had it all. Perfect family. Perfect life. A new hit album and tour. His friends and fans. It was fantastic. It was everything Brian wanted.
He watched as Nick followed AJ to his bus. Nick raising his hands up to drop them on AJ’s hips in an intimate gesture done with the familiarity of time. Saw the smile that graced AJ’s face when Nick stepped up onto the bottom step, putting him near level with AJ who was on the top step. Heard the laughter that followed the two of them as the tour bus swooshed behind them. Knew that they were happy. Together.
He told himself it didn’t matter.

I was worried I'd gotten over-ansgty there, but I guess it worked out in the end. I'm glad you liked it!
