Lance’s eyes bugged open at the spectacle before him. Candles glowed in small, painted glass globes. White and red rose petals littered the floor and made a trail to the bed. On the bed was where a sleeping JC laid in a heap in the sheets.
Lance felt tears form in his eyes as a big grin plastered his face. He toed off his shoes and peeled off his shirt as he hopped on the bed, which still didn’t wake his lover.
He ran his hand down JC’s face and pressed a lip to his ear. “Wake up, baby.” JC groaned, rolling over and wrapping his arms around the blond.
“I’m sorry I fell asleep and ruined the surprise.” Lance chuckled and laid a soft kiss on his lover’s lips. “You didn’t ruin anything, babe. This is perfect.”
He rested his head on the older man’s shoulder, moonlight from the window bathing them with light as he felt fingers run through his hair. “This is all I wanted.”
Lance felt the pull of sleep make his eyelids go heavy, but then he started to shake with laughter. JC woke up and let out a chuckle. “What?” “There’s no where to go but up, right?” JC took a moment and then began to laugh along with the younger man until they kissed tenderly.
Lance smiled and snuggled into the crook of his lover’s neck. After long moments of quiet, Lance kissed JC’s neck. “I love you.” JC snored in response as Lance chuckled himself to sleep.
