Joey/Kelly as little kids

I haven't requested anything in ages, and so what doI do when I return?

I request Joey fic. Het Joey fic at that.

Sort of.

I want Joey and Kelly visiting Lance with Briann and something happens to turn J & K into little kids. So Lance has to now take care of all three of them. We know Joey was a handful apparently as a child, so I'm thinking antics and messes.

Hee. Joey fic! Who knew?

Possible begining up for adoption?

I love this idea [I have a huge soft spot for Small Fry in the buffy-verse] but I cannot for the life of me write it ... in the hope that it mightinspire someone else to pick up the challenge, here's the set up I managed before realising that I really don't know where the hell to take it... If anyone wants to take this as a starting point they're more than welcome to it.

*****

Watching his god-daughter sleep was a quiet and secret pleasure. Awake she was the sweetest thing, and growing like you wouldn't believe – into everything and babbling non-stop - but asleep – asleep she was an angel. Innocent, peaceful, beautiful, with her long eyelashes and whispy dark curls , and she slept like she played, flat out, with total trust. The light from the open hall door was plenty to watch her breath, just sitting in the half-dark and not reaching out to stroke that fine hair because that might wake her. Joey and Kel had trusted him with their baby girl, and that was enough.

It was a flying visit – three days for Joey to go to some of meetings and for them all to catch up and re-connect. It was always far too long between visits, and when they did come around there was always a lot of celebrating and socialising, and never quite enough of the down time, so he was soaking it up while he could. Plus Joey's grin as they left told him he was earning 'good buddy' points at the same time, giving Joey and Kell a chance to go out together with a clear conscience.

He must have dozed off in the quiet bedroom, because the next thing he knew was Joey's hands, shaking his shoulder gently, and then one blunt finger brushing his lips.

"Shhhh" Joey beckoned to the hallway, and with a final glance at the sweetly slumbering Bri, Lance let himself be led out of the room. He tried to keep himself from feeling just a little envious of the way Kelly's hand automatically found the small of Joey's back as they leaned together.

Even with the door pulled too behind them the three adults kept their voices low, whispering thank yous and confirming plans for the morning, which included Lance promising three times over he'd kick Joey out of the door for his breakfast meting however much his friend was going to bitch about it. Kelly's arms snaked round his shoulders pulling him close for a good night hug, and then she slid away, replaced with Joey's solid warmth.

"Love you man – see you in the morning. Wish we could all sleep in and play all day like the little one huh?"

Kelly murmured her agreement and Lance waved them both of.

"Go on – g'night."

***** ***** *****

Lance knocked on their bedroom door at 5.30 on his way to the bathroom, and then again on his way back to the kitchen. Third time's the charm, and bearing two large coffee mugs he knocked at the door again, this time with his elbow.

"Joe? – Joey? – Coffee's waiting – you've got to get up."

Silence.

"Kell? Joe?"

Nothing. If Joey had been on his own this would have been the moment for loud brash good mornings and throwing wide the curtains and possibly sitting on the edge of the bed bouncing just too far away for Joey to kick him off without having to move. Having Kelly sharing the bed and Brianna in the room made Lance a lot more careful.

Lance rolled his eyes. "You guys better be decent in there – coming in!"

He nudged the door open with his elbow and crept into the room carefully.

"Joe!" he hissed "Wake up!"

[and here there should be either sweetly snuggling babies in the bed, or a pair of loose toddlers grabing at his legs, and narrowly escaping a hot coffee bath, whch Lance's cream carpets are never going to recover from, and so on and so forth ...]

*is glared at* I'm sorry! It's just - stuck. I don't write pop for a very good reason - I *can't* - but this idea is just so shiny, and then t's been stuck and ... sorry? *hangs head*

Small Fry (http://www.hawksong.com/users/mpoetess/stakes/fic/fry.html) - because nobody's day can be not improved if it has a five year old Spike in it!

[there's also a sequel which is almost as adorable]
