I wrote this quickly as the idea just sort of popped into my head when I saw your post. Please excuse any errors, and I hope it's what you were looking for!
“What are we making again?” Lance asked, using 'we' as a relative term as he couldn’t cook to save his life, and was currently leaning his chin on JC’s shoulder, watching as he broke eggs into a large mixing bowl.
“Blueberry blintzes,” JC answered.
“Mmmm, yum,” Lance hummed happily, because blueberries were his most favorite food. Ever. “You are too good to me. Thanks.”
“Well, it’s not every day that we celebrate our six month, three week, four day anniversary, now is it?”
For a brief moment, Lance gave thought to making a comment about JC and his similarity to girls, but as JC was currently mixing together a filling that smelled like heaven, he abstained. Instead, he offered his assistance, and didn’t miss for a second the subtle way JC pulled the bowl of filling just a bit closer to him. Obviously, it was no secret to him that Lance was a disaster in the kitchen.
“How about if I measure the flour,” Lance offered, reaching for the canister. That he was sure was something he could handle.
Apparently JC felt the same, because he agreed without too much fuss, and really how could he have known that at just that moment both dogs would come tearing through the kitchen chasing the cat, and knock Lance into JC, sending both of them skidding across the floor to crash into the kitchen table in a rain of flour and blueberries that had the animals scrambling for cover and JC sighing, “You and kitchens, I should have known.”
I love it! I was just getting ready to sign offline when this popped up. I'm so glad I waited and read this first. I'm going to be smiling for awhile because of this.
You just know that JC would have to have a cat, and that Lance's dogs would have to chase it. As for KP duty, I would imagine that would be Lance's job. JC cooks, Lance cleans up the mess.
