03. JC/Justin, Chace Crawford
04. JC/Chace

Remember, you can ask for one ficlet every week, and putting up fresh prompts is likely to encourage fresh stories, so please do! Don't forget to put the pairing (or group, or threesome, whatever) as the header for your post. And I'll, um, try to be more regular in posting recaps!

If you write a fic in answer to any of these requests—and if you do, hurray for you!—please comment to this post saying which one you have done.

Just a little mod reminder. Please folks, when you make a request put the pairing(s) you are requesting in the subject line. If it's an open ended pairing for example JC/?, then put that in the subject line.

It really helps out when we're trying to memory/tag/compile things.

Thanks.

With some trepidation, I am pleased to announce that there's now another way to find the stories.

You'll have noticed, I'm sure, the tags that are now appearing on the entries. [livejournal.com profile] blueboxers is doing sterling work there. You may well find that the tags do all you want to help you find what you want to read.

However, I have also been labouring over the stories—such a hardship, having to read them all—and have produced an Index. The Main Page is here, and should you forget to bookmark it, there's a link in the User Info of this community.

I've set up the Index rather as though this community is a web page. Don't try to use [livejournal.com profile] fic_req_index as a normal LJ community, you'll just find it chaotic and baffling, but if you start with the Main Page and follow the links, you should be fine. Stories are indexed by character, in pairings and 'other' categories. There are also some sub-groups that seemed fruitful, like AUs. If you can think of another header under which the stories should be categorised, let me know, and I'll take a look.

If you find any broken links or other peculiarities, please comment to the Index Page in question so that I can fix it. Equally, if you think there's a story on [livejournal.com profile] fic_requests that ought to be under a particular heading and isn't, tell me about it (with the url, for preference). Nobody's perfect, and it's entirely possible I have managed to leave out a few, or misplace some...

Using the Index, you'll find that there is a very brief summary/teaser for each story. I've tried to show what the story is about, without giving away anything crucial. If you think the summary is inaccurate, inadequate or in-something else, please let me know. (The easiest way to do this is probably by commenting on the index page that led to the story in question, but do feel free to email me via LJ if you prefer.)

And finally, I know that several authors have expanded on/written sequels to some of the stories that were birthed in this community. Do, please, let me have links to those so that readers can find them.

After all that—happy browsing! Doing the compiling has reminded me of just how many wonderful stories there are on [livejournal.com profile] fic_requests. Obviously I am not the only person who found inspiration in the requests. I know that if you read back through what this community has produced, you'll be very impressed—what's more, I'll bet you come across at least one story that you hadn't seen, and which you like very much. And maybe you'll feel inspired to answer a request, and give me more work to do!

Let me know if it works for you, okay?

Before we get down to the fiction : we have news.

Firstly, to bid farewell to [livejournal.com profile] funnypandachick, who has stepped down as a mod, due to time pressures. She's still around as a community member though, so *waves*

And secondly, welcome to two new members of the mods team - [livejournal.com profile] blueboxers and [livejournal.com profile] pensnest will be working on tagging and indexing, to make it easier for folks to find the fiction that's been written here over the past two and a half years.

Dude - just over two and a half years. Very nearly 4000 comments, on over 500 posts - proof that [livejournal.com profile] megoon had a damn fine idea! Go team [livejournal.com profile] fic_requests!!

This place really is about *you* - your requests, your writing, your feedback to the authors. Without our members this place wouldn't be, so thank you, to the community's members past and present, and roll on the future! Keep 'em coming :D

I've been saving this round-up, because obviously at this time of year we're all busy with SeSa stories and, um, oh yes, Christmas. But this community has been very interesting and useful for me, as a newcomer this year to the wonderful world of Popslash - it has been the source of inspiration for a good many, perhaps even the majority, of the fics I've written, as well as a delightful source of ficcy goodness. Anyway, I'd be sorry to see the place fall into a decline due to a probably temporary lapse. So as [livejournal.com profile] ephemera_pop has suggested, I'd like to offer a personal recap of the most memorable things I've found here. You may be glad to be reminded of some of these stories! The list is necessarily incomplete, as there have been plenty more fics I've enjoyed, but one cannot go on for ever. Perhaps some other community members will be inspired to list your own Most Memorables.

New ficlets this week :

Depressingly, there's nothing for me to index here. For which I also bear responsibility, seeing as I haven't written a word of anything all week, but : it's still sad. Is it just that everyone's busy? No longer interested? Fervently scribbling their next epic instead?

Maybe this would be a good time for a 'feedback on the community' thread ... Is there something we could be doing differently? What would make you want to be more involved? Write more, request more, pimp the community to your friends? Talk to me, people! I'd prefer to see thing sin comments, so we can get a discussion going, but if there's something on your mind that you're not comfortable posting in public, you can email me at ephemera_tales @ livejournal.com and / or one of the other mods as listed below.

Mod Post.

And I’m heartily sorry that you guys have seen so many of these recently, but from emails and chat conversations members have been having with mods, it seems to be necessary. A number of complaints have been received about ficlets that either do not meet the request they were written for, or that were so badly written that the requester was hugely disappointed.  [1]

Now – I’m sure all you writers know that ficlets should meet the criteria of the request, and that they should be, at the very least, checked for spelling and grammar.  Please make sure that the ficlet you’re about to post meets the request and is as well written as you can make it.  [and if you want help on improving your writings there are loads of writing websites and lj communities for you to turn to. ]

But, apparently, not all requestors know what to do when faced with something that isn’t at all what they asked for.

Yes, we do ask that you thank the writer who has written something for you, but that in no way obligates you to lie and gush about how fantastic the trickyfish story they wrote for your letterboys request is. There’s no need to be abusive either. There is a happy medium!

Thank you for putting the time into writing this. It’s just that I asked for letterboys, and this seems to be trickyfish, so not really what I requested

or

Thank you for putting the time into writing this. It was pretty hard to read through the spelling mistakes though –  Lance’s enormous duck??

are both perfectly fair comments, and will let both the mods and the writer know what’s going on.

If you want your request to continue to be listed as open, you need to say so somewhere in the comments.  Even if you prefer to send critical feedback by email, which is fair enough, you need to post 'Mods - can this please be listed as still open?' ' in the comments.

And to prove that I do practise what I preach – take a look at the comments to this.

[1] Before anyone gets paranoid : mods are emailing anyone they hear multiple complaints about. If you don’t get an email this almost certainly does not apply to you.

Ahem.

I have come out of hibernation for the sheer fact that I would like to point out, once again, that this is a fun community.

...

HAVE FUN!

That is all.

ps - megoonMegan gets twitchy if you use the words "I'm looking for..." when requesting a story. Apparently it makes it seem like this is [livejournal.com profile] popstoryfinders, but don't get too nutty about it. [whispers] She's just cranky. [/whisper] ;)
[identity profile] ravenbat.livejournal.com
We've gotten quite a few new people lately and I thought I'd pop in and post a couple reminders, before our head mod's head explodes or something. That'd be kind of messy and really, a cranky [livejournal.com profile] megoon is not any fun at all.

First, please read the communities rules. There really aren't many of them and they aren't that complicated.

I also want to touch on a few of those rules.

Make one request per week. A week runs from Sunday to Saturday, generally going by US central time, since that is where Megan is and she usually does the weekly recap posts. Double posting in a week will cause megan to spaz and delete both posts. If you then wish to chose one of the two requests and request that one again, do so, just save the second one until after the week has changed for the community

Put the pairing of your request in your subject line. Please. It not only makes it easier for other people to skim the list for pairings that they enjoy writing or reading, but it helps us find it easier when we are archiving.

Also, if you are willing to be a writer and haven't responded to this post yet, could you please do so. Thank you.

Anyway, I welcome all the new people that have joined. I hope that we'll see more requests and a lot more ficlets being written. This community was started to have fun, so hopefully it will remain that way. If you have any questions, please ask me or one of the other mods, if you don't want to ask inside the community, our contact info is listed in the communities user profile.

disclaimer: this post was made with no intentions of making Megan sound like a bitch or a tyrant. She's not either of those things, I use her name mostly because this community *was* her idea to begin with and because it all boils down to her being "the boss" and Crystal and I help out.
[identity profile] megoon.livejournal.com
So a few people wanted me to post links to requests that were never filled. Keep in mind that no one has an obligation to fill these requests.
If your request has not been filled, feel free to post it seven days from whenever you first posted it.

Unfilled requests up to this point:
HP
Trickyfish
Lance/original female
AJ/Kevin
JC/?
Bassez
Lance/Wade
[identity profile] classicalhllywd.livejournal.com
Hah. I'm such a pain in the ass. But this time I'm not here to shell out rules. I'm here to give out information! Woo! Megan and I are constantly online and bothering each other with IMs. I decided to let y'all join in on the fun in case you have questions that need immediate attention, or just want to fool around with us and...yeah. That just sounded bad.

The Info )

I'm usually online starting from 5:30pm PST and off by 10:00pm PST on weekdays. Weekends are a whole 'nother story. Megan's just on crack, so she's online whenever she feels like it.

Megan: I'm not on crack. I live in rural Iowa. There is nothing to do but sit online.
Crystal: And eat and pee.
Megan: Right.
[identity profile] classicalhllywd.livejournal.com
Haha. Okay, so some rules weren't in place when this whole thing was started up. Me and Meg over here got confuzzled and stuff's just all up everywhere.

The one thing I'm going to stress, is that when you write a ficlet, don't post it. Comment in the post of the requester. If you've already posted, just delete and move.

Also, I suggest that everyone take one last look at the rules that Megan imposed because they're final and we will not be changing them anymore.

-----

Besides my mean moment of pushiness, I'd like to personally welcome every single person here to the community. It's only been what? One night? And we have 39 members?! Crikey.

I'd also like to point out my icon. It's so you know when I'm making an announcement. I made it. Can you tell?

I'm finished spamming y'alls journals now. Carry on.
[identity profile] megoon.livejournal.com
What fandoms do you write?

Het, Slash, or Both?
[identity profile] classicalhllywd.livejournal.com
Is there anyone who didn't see me coming?

Yeah. That's right. [livejournal.com profile] megoon found me. For those of you who have never met me and/or never heard of me, hi. I'm Crystal Rose. I'm here to make this place sparkly and cheery. Also, to write some of the requests when I have the time. Did I mention I've been named second in charge? mUahaha. You're all in trouble now.

Geez. It's so bland in here. Cheap layout, one icon...what kind of establishment are you running here Fidget?

While I run behind the scenes and revamp the community background and icons, everyone do me a favor. Pimp. Pimp like it's the end of the world and the only thing you can do to save it is pimp. The more writers we get in here, the more ficlets that will get done. And the bigger the community, the more likely I'll shell out some cash to make it paid so the mood icons aren't boring. Bah.
