With some trepidation, I am pleased to announce that there's now another way to find the stories.
You'll have noticed, I'm sure, the tags that are now appearing on the entries.
blueboxers is doing sterling work there. You may well find that the tags do all you want to help you find what you want to read.
However, I have also been labouring over the stories—such a hardship, having to read them all—and have produced an Index. The Main Page is
here, and should you forget to bookmark it, there's a link in the User Info of this community.
I've set up the Index rather as though this community is a web page. Don't try to use
fic_req_index as a normal LJ community, you'll just find it chaotic and baffling, but if you start with the
Main Page and follow the links, you should be fine. Stories are indexed by character, in pairings and 'other' categories. There are also some sub-groups that seemed fruitful, like AUs. If you can think of another header under which the stories should be categorised, let me know, and I'll take a look.
If you find any broken links or other peculiarities, please comment to the Index Page in question so that I can fix it. Equally, if you think there's a story on
fic_requests that ought to be under a particular heading and isn't, tell me about it (with the url, for preference). Nobody's perfect, and it's entirely possible I have managed to leave out a few, or misplace some...
Using the Index, you'll find that there is a very brief summary/teaser for each story. I've tried to show what the story is about, without giving away anything crucial. If you think the summary is inaccurate, inadequate or in-something else, please let me know. (The easiest way to do this is probably by commenting on the index page that led to the story in question, but do feel free to email me via LJ if you prefer.)
And finally, I know that several authors have expanded on/written sequels to some of the stories that were birthed in this community. Do, please, let me have links to those so that readers can find them.
After all that—happy browsing! Doing the compiling has reminded me of just how many wonderful stories there are on
fic_requests. Obviously I am not the only person who found inspiration in the requests. I know that if you read back through what this community has produced, you'll be very impressed—what's more, I'll bet you come across at least one story that you hadn't seen, and which you like very much. And maybe you'll feel inspired to answer a request, and give me more work to do!
Let me know if it works for you, okay?
