JC and dragons, please. Metaphorical dragons. Chrinese dragons. Full size dragon-rider dragons. JC-the-new-Harmony with his terrifying collection of tat, shapeshifting dragons, otherkin dragons, hunting-them--lances dragons - whatever takes your fancy. Pairing of your choice, or none at all, but JC should be in there somewhere. Thank you!

Date: 2006-03-02 06:48 am (UTC)~*~*~*~
He sweeps past in a whoosh of fire and speed, his scales gleaming silver and head held high. Wild and free, he commands with sheer size, yet each movement is graceful. A dance between body and air, plunging through the clouds, his body dark against the sun as he circles up high.
He dives and skims the ground, mouth open and teeth exposed, but JC stands his ground, unflinching as the dragon roars. The valley echoes with sound, trees tremble and JC holds up his hand.
Blood drips from his palm, sliding down in tiny red ribbons that wrap around his arm. The dragon banks, wings rigid and claws extended and JC’s skin crawls with fear. He wants to run, hide his bloody hand and flee, but it’s too late, his fate sealed long ago.
“I challenge you in accordance to the old laws. With my courage I summon thee; with my blood I honour thee.”
The words are automatic, and their familiarity grounds JC as he pushes past the fear and clenches his fist, before flinging out his hand so droplets of blood fall like rain.
“You’re a child, your challenge means nothing.”
Scorn drips from the dragon and JC wavers under the voice that fills his head. He can feel the dragon deep inside, pushing through his mind as it hovers then lands. Claws dig into the grass and JC blinks against the fire that licks through pointed teeth, the heat that brushes past his face.
The dragon looms, curling its neck to watch as JC gathers his courage and walks forward to rub his hand over a scaly side, smearing blood in a wavering line.
“The challenge is sealed.”
“So be it.”
JC gasps as the air itself seems to collapse, pressing against his side. The dragon watches, unmoving as JC stumbles forward, his hands pressed against solid warmth. He fights for breath as ancient magic appears, twisting against his ankles as he steps back then runs forward, jumping onto the dragons back.
JC seats himself; knees tucked tight, his hands braced at the join of neck. He’s prepared for this for years, but as they take flight he knows practice means nothing, and he can’t help a scream as they hurtle upwards and he slides down the rough back.
“”Failing so soon, child?”
“No!”
JC yells the words, his hands locked around silver scales. To fail is unthinkable and he climbs up as the dragon swoops, trying to knock him free. Terror sweeping him as they tumble through the clouds. He cries out with rage when his feet sweep over the tree tops and swears when the dragon rolls. Still JC holds on, and blood splatters his face, mingling with his tears as his fingers cramp and his body aches with each whip of wind.
“You surrender, child?”
The dragon is shooting even higher, and JC presses his face against the scales and tries to breath. He closes his eyes against the black spots and nothing exists except the feel of dragon, the sounds of wings ploughing through the sky, the hiss of breathe and smell of smoke.
“Surrender now!”
“No.” JC forces out the word, and suddenly the dragon stills, and plummets to the earth.
“I said no, damnit” JC screams, furious as the dragon lands once more. “I don’t give in, I don’t surrender.”
“But I do. You have shown your worth.” The dragon leans forward, head to the floor and JC slips from his back, landing on his knees in the grass. “As written by the old laws, I accept you as my rider and we are joined.”
