This is mostly dialogue, but I hope you like this. *worries*
Sound
It's the sound of familar laughter that makes Chris look up from the menu and glance around the restaurant. It doesn't take him long to spot the source, or rather sources. He slumps down further in his booth and puts the menu back up in front of his face, effectively hiding himself from being seen or from seeing. Or rather, it'd be effective if the person sitting across the table from him would stop flicking the menu.
"You planning on sitting there and sulking behind that menu the entire time were here?"
"Yes."
"What do you plan on doing when the waitress takes the menu after we order?"
"Keeping the menu, she's not taking it."
"You know you're being stupid, right?"
"Shut up, JC. I don't need you calling me names too."
JC reaches across the table and plucks the menu from Chris' fingers. "Chris, this is foolish and you know it."
Chris scowls and snatches the menu back, "so I'm foolish too?"
"You are if you are going to let this come between you guys. He didn't mean it the way you took it and you know it, I know it, the entire world knows it. And quit giving me that look, I've known you too long to be scared of it."
"You suck."
"And quite well, thank you." JC replies with a wink.
Chris hides the smile that crosses his face by taking a drink of his soda. He's saved from responding to JC by the appearance of their waitress. Much to his dismay, before he can tell the woman that he wants to keep his menu, JC has grabbed it and handed it to her with his own. More laughter comes from across the restaurant and Chris slumps even further down in his seat. He's sulking and he knows it, but right now the sound of that familar laugh is making his heart hurt and all he really wants to do is either leave the restaurant or hide. He can't leave because JC drove, not that he couldn't afford a cab or anything, but something about paying for a cab to take him someplace else so that he can just sulk more. Well, even to him it doesn't seem rational. He's lost in thoughts, wondering just how rational he is to begin with, when JC kicks him hard in the shin. For someone wearing flipflops, it hurts. Chris glances under the table as he reaches down to rub his shin, making sure that JC's flipflops weren't just steel-toed boots in disguise. When JC moves to kick him again, Chris catches ahold of his foot and yanks. Causing JC to slide from the booth and onto the floor.
"Hey!" JC yelps, as he climbs back into his seat.
"Serves you right. Quit kicking at me."
"Quit being so stubborn. Go over there and talk to him. You know you want to."
"No."
"Oh come on, Chris. You know he's missing you just as much as you're missing him."
"I am not. Besides, even if I was, he's not missing me. He's over there just laughing and have a good time."
JC rolls his eyes, "he's with his brother and they tend to get along and have fun together. Do you really want him sitting around someplace in tears and mourning the fact that you walked out on him. Especially since you walked out over something so foolish? Not to mention that you embarassed him when you did it?"
Chris just glares in response. "You're suppose to be my friend and support me."
JC snorts, "I'm not supporting you when you're being a buttknob. Just like I won't support any of my friends when they are being one."
