Obviously, Joey's secret superpower is that of giving magnificent healing hugs. I'd love to read a story in which he uses his power for good - don't mind on whom.
Justin has been moping around for weeks. Sniffling a little every now and then, but not really crying.
JC had sat with him for a little while. Put an arm around his shoulder and murmured quietly to him. Soothing things, things that JC would say. He'd given up after twenty minutes, shaking his head and frowning.
Lance was next, even though he didn't really know how to comfort Justin. He'd rubbed his shoulder, pointed out the positives in being newly single. Justin just looked at him, eyes rimmed in red. Lance lasted less than ten minutes.
Chris thought that jokes would work. Or at least video games. Justin loved video games. But when he suggested Final Fantasy or Halo, Justin turned away, curled himself into a ball in the corner of the couch.
That left only Joey. And he knows exactly what to do. With Justin still balled up so tight, head hidden, Joey takes him completely by surprise.
This is more than just a bear hug. Joey's arms circle Justin's shoulders, holds onto his forearm or elbow, wherever he can reach. He holds on tight, even as Justin struggles.
Strangled cries and then he is relaxing, hands gripping onto Joey's shirt, nose stuck into his neck.
They start quietly, little sobs that escape Justin's mouth in puffs. It doesn't take long before they are huge sobs, Justin drawing in large breaths of air as he struggles to keep up.
Joey just holds on. Even when he feels the tears soak through his shirt. Even when Justin's grip tightens. Even when Justin climbs into his lap, arms and legs everywhere.
Rubbing soft circles into his back, Joey feels Justin's cries begin to slow. When he is just sniffling again, Justin pulls away.
He rubs his eyes, wipes his nose on his sleeve. Joey just runs a gentle hand through his curls, kisses his forehead softly.
"It's okay, kid." Joey is rewarded with the first smile any of them have seen in over two weeks. It's weak and watery, but it's there. It's a step.
Awww....that was just snuggly! *images self in snuggly hug* That's the happy place I've needed the last couple of days...awesome! Thanks to you for writing and to the requester for requesting.
