How about some schmoopy Joshtin. Involving a piano and one of them singing a new song to the other one. Something sweet and full of schmoop.....because really, I need schmoop.
Well, hopefully, this is sweet and schmoopy enough for you.. If not, I apologize profusely.
Black, White, Red
Come to the studio was the only thing the note had said and when Justin looked at Trace with questioning eyes, all his friend did was shrug and smile at him before turning back to the pages and pages of who-knows-what. Justin knew the writing, knew who the message was from and his heart beat just that much faster at the thought of JC’s studio. The last time he had been in there, JC had let him listen to the full album and had made him remember just who he was really talking about in each of the songs.
He was grinning by the time he made it to his car and a happy shiver sped down his spine as his fingers tapped out a nonsense rhythm on the wheel. The car rolled into JC’s driveway and he let himself into the modern house with the extra key that dangled from his keychain. “C?” he called out and rolled his eyes at the post-it stuck on the front hall closet that screamed at him, I said studio. Remember where that room is? Stop standing in my hall.
“Idiot,” he said fondly and softly as he grabbed the yellow piece of paper and slipped off his shoes, leaving them by the door and almost yelping when his bare feet hit the cold hardwood floors. The door leading to the basement studio was shut and when he pulled it open, he could hear JC rummaging around downstairs; he stepped down slowly, humming appreciatively when he saw JC inside the large booth, his back to the door and standing at the piano, shuffling through sheets that Justin guessed was music.
JC looked up when the door to the booth opened. “J, hey, you’re here. Get my notes?” He grinned, the skin around his eyes crinkling when Justin held them both up. “You cool? Need a drink or something?”
“No,” and he moved to JC, planting his hands on his waist and leaning in and down to kiss him, his lips on fire when JC licked at them playfully before pulling away.
“Kisses later, babe,” he moved away before leaning back in to bump Justin’s hip with his own. “You gotta hear this.” He grabbed Justin’s hand and tugged at it as he walked to the piano, sitting at the bench and letting go of Justin’s hand to move away the red scarf that always had to be there of he flipped out.
“New song done already?”
“Kind of,” he admitted. “It’s in the rough stages.”
Justin raised an eyebrow, “And you’re letting me here it?”
“It’s,” he paused, “It’s different.” He snuck a glance at Justin and when the younger man didn’t respond, JC nodded and spread his hands over the keys, closing his eyes to gather his thoughts and he pressed down his fingers onto the keys before opening his eyes and playing.
It was a haunting melody that reminded Justin of something he would hear in a horror movie, but then it slowed into a low and bittersweet sound that whipped Justin around the moment he heard JC’s voice sing along with it. He was used to hearing JC’s voice, had heard it since he was 12 but it sounded different this time; even on Schizophrenic, it hadn’t sounded this deep and rough, this raw. Justin’s eyes closed as he listened, fearing that a look to JC would make him fall into a trance, not that the music wasn’t helping him with that enough.
JC’s skin, he found out, was warm beneath the white shirt he had on despite the cool air conditioning filtering through the house and the area of his lower back, right above where his jeans began covering him, tensed while he played and sang. He was falling more and more in love with JC with each lyric that flowed out of his mouth into the room to meet the piano chords. The music stopped then and JC’s hand fell to his lap and his head turned to Justin, hesitant but proud.
“Well?” he asked tentatively. His only answer was Justin leaning in to kiss at the side of his neck. “Justin,” he complained, “I’m serious, what did you think?”
“C,” he breathed out, leaving tiny kisses up the column of his neck before pressing his lips behind JC’s ear and whispering his pride and his love. The blush from Justin’s words started somewhere at JC’s collarbone and flushed his entire body, moving up his neck into his cheeks while also creeping down beneath his shirt and soon, Justin felt the warmth from the blush on his hand that had moved from JC’s back to his stomach. “Jive better be good to you and give you another album if only for that song.”
“I wouldn’t put it on even if I did get another album from them, babe, and I wouldn’t put it on any album from another company or independent.” Justin’s face held question and JC smiled, “It’s all yours to hear and love.” He reached a hand up and cupped the back of Justin’s neck, pulling his face down and demanding a kiss. When they broke apart, fire danced in JC’s eyes but his lips were still turned up to a playful grin. “Don’t steal it though; then you’d be in trouble.”
Justin rolled his eyes, “Like I’d steal your SONG, C. If I did, you’d have everyone after me.” He laughed loudly when JC narrowed his eyes and stood from the piano bench. “You know I’m playing.”
Then JC’s eyes widened and so did his smile, “I know. You just think you’d be able to get away from everyone who’d help me.” He ran a hand over the shorn hair on Justin’s head and almost giggled when they tickled his palm. “But you know, if you want to hear it again, you can. And if you want to hear me sing it for you, I would.” He winked, “Want to hear me sing it while I’m breathless? It gives it a different vibe, I think.”
“And you already tried this out?” Justin teased as he slid off the piano bench, wrapping an arm around JC’s waist before he left. The kiss at the back of JC’s neck was soft, barely there, but it sent a happy shudder throughout his body.
“No, but I’m figuring ‘cause you know I know what I sound like when I do that. You made me try it out for Right Here, remember?” he laughed and winked once more before turning and darting up the stairs, yelling down to Justin once he reached the top, “Let’s go, slowpoke. You’d think you didn’t WANT to hear it this time around.” He continued teasing Justin to follow him up to the second floor where his bedroom was, but his voice started fading somewhere around the living room, Justin guessed and he shook his head, loving JC and wanting nothing more than to follow him.
But before he left the booth and the studio, he took the red scarf that had fallen to the floor underneath the piano and smoothed it out over the black and white keys with a smile.
And I forgot to say that I love your Joshtin icons. LOVE THEM. I'm gonna have to find me some more because I just have one and since this is my slash pair of choice, I should have more.
And as a first story that you've written for this community, I must say that I look forward to reading other ficlets that you write, because really, I thoroughly enjoyed mine.
Aww, thank you. I quite enjoy my friends who shower me with them when I ask. LoL. And if they are your OTP, your user icons should be flowing with them, yes. *nods affirmatively* And yay for more JuC folk! *hugs you tightly*
And well, first story for the community, but not in the fandom. LoL. So maybe I had some practice. :o)
*hugs you tightly back* Love me some Joshtin girls.
And if you maybe had some practice on previous works, maybe you should point me in the direction of your reading material so that I could maybe indulge myself....*hint, hint, nudge, nudge*
