So is this thing still taking requests? if it is, can I get myself some Harry Potter? Harry/Seamus, or Harry/Dean, or if you must, Harry/George? Just something sweet, and loving, and maybe a little romantic? Please? I'll return the favour if it means someone writing me this...

you know, i've missed writing harry potter. but seamus and dean are two people i am completely clueless about. and yeah, this is a pretty old request, but it's your request and maybe it won't turn out too bad?

Hedwig had dropped the first note on Harry's lap hours ago, ruffling her feathers as if to say 'Finnigan is a lazy soddin' arse'. Harry had raised an eyebrow, stroked a finger beneath Hedwig's beak to calm her, and then opened the letter. Scribbled hastily in barely legible writing was a short, 'after dinner out in the quidditch field'.

Harry'd grinned and gotten ready, feeling, for the first time, as though his birthday might not be as big a disaster as he'd thought. But now, he's standing in the rain, soaked from head to toe, firebolt clutched in his hands like an idiot, glancing about the field for the fiftieth time.

"'Arry! What're you doing out in the wet?"

Harry looks up, finally seeing Seamus through the rain, in the stands. "You said on the field!" Harry yells back, almost indignant, but he trudges towards the stands anyway. "I thought you were late."

Seamus has the audacity to look confused. "The note said the showers."

"What note?" Harry asks, slightly annoyed now. He can hardly see Seamus anymore, even though they're standing almost nose-to-nose, and he whips his glasses off, cleaning them with his shirt before putting them on again. It does nothing to clear his vision, and he almost wishes he'd paid more attention to Hermione and her spells.

"The note you got Ron's ruddy bird to send me! Stupid thing knocked my ink-bottle over!"

Harry doesn't quite know what to say to that. "But I--I thought you were--didn't you send the note? But Hedwig--"

Seamus shoves his hands awkwardly into his pockets. "Fancy we've been pranked?"

"George," Harry mutters, shaking his head.

"Dean," Seamus replies, in the same tone. Neither of them seem willing to look each other in the eye. It's only when Harry sighs that Seamus looks up again, like he's remembered something he never meant to forget. "Err, happy birthday, mate."

Harry looks at him, surprised. "Oh. Thanks."

"Well, I should, err, head back inside." Seamus begins, turning away from Harry. But then there's a pause, and Seamus is suddenly looking Harry in the eye again. "There wasn't any name on the note, was there? I--why would you think--you thought of me?"

A lengthier pause ensues. "I, err. You were, when I looked, I didn't think. But you were in the stands, and--"

"Kiss him, you bloody idiot!" George's yell interrupts Harry's mumbling, and both Harry and Seamus look around in surprise. "Hurry up!"

Harry still can't see through the rain, so he grabs Seamus' wrist and pulls him toward the showers. "C'mon," he mutters, "if I know Dean Thomas, he's watching us too."

Seamus stays silent, and it's only later in the showers, when Harry's drying his hair off with a towel, not-watching Seamus not-dry his own hair, that Seamus finally says, "I didn't get you anything, mate. Sorry."

Before Harry can respond, Seamus is standing beside him, his hand curled around Harry's. "I reckon I was hoping I'd be able to make it up to you somehow."

"Oh," Harry says cleverly, his eyes drawn to their linked hands.

Seamus relaxes a fraction, grinning at the look on Harry's face. "Yeah. Harry?"

When Harry looks up, Seamus leans over, so close that Seamus' warm breath curls by Harry's mouth like a promise, and Seamus' lips are so gentle against his own that Harry doesn't realise the difference till it's over.

"Seamus?"

Another soft kiss, and Harry's hand tightens its grasp so Seamus doesn't pull away. This is all the confirmation they need.

"This hardly makes up for my present."

Harry feels Seamus' mouth curve against his own in reply, and he's suddenly thankful for the thunderstorm, as he pulls Seamus into one of the stalls.

He doesn't know any Silencing Charms.

"Oh," Harry says cleverly,

love the awkwardness of their conversation - seems very fitting.
