I have added [livejournal.com profile] ephemera_pop as a mod. We're gonna see if we can get this place up and running again.
Any of you have any ides? We're open to suggestions, drop them off in a comment.

I am leaving for the rest of the weekend here in about half an hour. If anyone has any suggestions or questions just drop a comment here or email one of us.

I have been thinking long and hard about what to do. my last two requests were never answered and I have tried to write as much as I can here. All we really need is to get the requests flowing again, maybe a contest where whoever writes the most gets a prize 9icon, layout or such)!

i really love this community and want to see it flourish again.

And to start I'll go request something now!

yeah that's true! Well how about a poll to see how many are still interested and to encourage people to start posting requests again! i wish i had some good ideas but I'm not sure what to do.

One of the things that discouraged me the last few months that the comm was active was that I'm not online every day, so when I did come and check the requests were up to a week old and the only unanswered ones were the really unusual pairings. There were also a couple of times where I was slow writing and someone beat me to it, and I did not post what I wrote at all.

I don't see an easy fix for that, except maybe to make it clear whether or not we're welcome to write for a request that already has been answered. I wasn't doing that because I didn't want to be seen as trying to show someone up or something, but if it was clear upfront that multiple responses were ok, I would have more to write. Or if that's not allowed, then make that clear as well.

I also noticed that sometimes I would come looking for something to write, and everything from the last week had a comment already. Without clicking them I'd assume they'd been fulfilled, but for a while there we were getting a lot of comments agreeing with the request. Perhaps if there were a rule that the first comment to a post must be a ficlet?

The only problem I have with keeping track of how often someone writes is that then those who do not write may feel intimidated about making requests, which is not what we want.

I also see logistical problems with keeping track, especially if it is decided to encourage multiple replies to a request. Who has time to go back and check old posts and see if a second story was added? My suggestion, if we go the stats route, is to have a mod post every week/month/fortnight/17 days/ whatever. When someone writes a ficlet, they comment on the mod post with a link to their fic. At the end of the period, the mod collates all those links into a summary post, and then makes a new mod post for collecting links. That way we're only looking at activity in the last period, not cumulative, and the poor mod doesn't go insane.

I have a hyperactive sense of being unwelcome; I always worry that I'm where I shouldn't be doing something I shouldn't do.

trust you to think through the logistics ;) - my thought was, for starters, to get the regular mods 'unanswered requests' posts back up and runnning, along with a 'new fic this week' post to pimp the ficlets that did get written [lack of fb is a de-motivator for the folks writing, after all, so pimping the ficlets is a good] - that last's a good idea for marshaling the incoming fic - we'll def. give it some thought.

trust you to think through the logistics Do I do that because it's my job, or did it become my job because I do it anyway?

I suspect the latter. I like thinking out logistics and all, I'm just no good at carrying things out myself :)

I think the best way to infuse excitement for this community is for the moderators to post links to everything that's been written on a regular basis. It's lots of fun to see all the requests, but unless you bookmark each one you never get to see the results. Would it be possible to do a summary post once a week with each request, a link to the story, and notes on which ones still need to be filled?

Is the new-format weekly recap format working for you? Or ar you saying you'd prefer to see it all mixed in together?
