Joey Fatone sighed as he stepped into his one bedroom apartment. He looked at the sink filled with dirty dishes and the basket filled with laundry that still needed to be done. He put his head in his hands and let out another frustrated sigh. He felt like crying; it was another day of a failed work search and JC's construction job was only enough to pay rent and some utilities. They still didn't have enough to pick up the cable and phone bill. He went to the bedroom and put away his suit, changing into some sweats. He went to the kitchen and started to do the dishes. He was almost done when the room went black. "For fuck's sake." Apparently, they didn't pay the electricity bill this month. He felt the tears accumulate in his eyes and he thought they were going to spill over when he heard the door open.
"Joe?" A confused voice rang out. "In here." He heard JC drop his tool belt and take off his boots in the same spot he always did and smelled his boyfriend's sweat as arms wrapped around his waist, reaching out in the darkness. "You alright?" Joey shook his head. "I feel like a failure, Jace. Like you could have better. 'Not be stuck in this shitty apartment with no electricity and-" "Hey! Come on, don't say that. We'll be fine and I don't think you're a failure." Joey nodded as the arms wrapped around him tighter. "I got some good news." Joey turned the faucet back on and sighed in relief as he saw the water still worked. "Yeah?" He felt lips kiss the back of his neck. "I got a promotion at work." Joey smiled and turned in his lover's arms. "That's great, babe." He kissed the blue eyed man's lips and smiled as he embraced him. He laughed and patted JC's arm. "Go take a shower; you reek." JC laughed. "Hey, maybe you could grab some candles and bring that fat Italian ass in the shower with me? Be all romantic-like." Joey chuckled. "Sure. Gimme a sec." JC nodded and carefully found his way to the bedroom.
Joey went to a drawer and found some candles and matches. He knew tomorrow morning he'd wake up in his shitty apartment, call the electric company, sit at the kitchen table with a bowl of store brand cereal, and look at the classifieds. But he knew it was going to be okay.
you have no idea how close to home this ended up. Poor Joe. Although he does have a really rather fantastic boyfriend, and together they're going to make it, right?
