So it has come to the attention of myself and the other moderators that requests are being filled that do not "fill" the request. If you are just filling these requests to be the one who writes the most or just to DO it, not because you truly think you have something that fills it... then DON'T bother. Until recently, this was a fun place full of interesting requests both asked for and received.

I want this to be a fun place. I do not like getting feedback from members saying "get rid of this person because every fic they write SUCKS." or "this person can't ever seem to fill the requests as they are written." or "this person needs a beta or to at least use a spell or grammar check before they post." Some of the errors I'm seeing repeatedly are errors made by 3rd graders.

I don't want to make this be a place where a moderator has to approve everyone's posts before they are actually posted, but if things in certain areas don't improve, it's something that is going to happen.

Also, I'm going to repeat what has been said before, don't be rude! It's ok to tell the author that the fic you received is not what you asked for; just don't be rude about it. And authors need not get upset over being told that the fic is not what the requester asked for. I’m not saying that people need to make their requests so specific that it leaves the author no creativity, I’m saying if the request asks for smut, then the story should have smut in it. Like one of the rules of the community, which is on the user info page and everyone should have read it when they joined, leave your author a bit of space to work in, or in other words - don't make your request so specific it's basically a complete plot outline.

I want questions, comments, and complaints... Don't let stuff fester, please let me know so I can get it taken care of. If you need to talk to another mod, read the community info and it's all right there.

Am I under "sucks"? Or any other category?

I'm hesitant about replying to this, as I'm pretty new here myself and, having leaped joyfully into writing stories, am uneasily aware that I may have committed at least one of the above sins myself. But I feel I need to say that it is very worrying to read a generalised complaint like this, which leaves me - and, obviously, others too - feeling uncomfortable. Would it maybe be better to contact the individual(s) who are the subjects of these complaints directly and privately, to ask them to check that they are doing what the requester asked for, getting beta'd, etc? That way no innocent party is left thinking 'is it me?' (and, quite possibly, feeling inhibited about answering requests) and whoever is getting it wrong knows that there is a problem.

just my two cents..

In a perfect world, pulling the "offenders" aside would work, however then there is the problem/fact that at least one of the two people there is such a problem with has been spoken to before and seems to have ignored everything that was said to them *or* they dealt with it by copping an attitude with one of the moderators.

Basically, I see Megan's post this way, if you always filled the requests per what the request asked for, this is not about you. If you haven't been rude to either a requester, a moderator or a person filling one of your requests; then again, this is not about you.

This post wasn't made to be mean or cruel. It was made because we truly have been getting contacted repeatedly by members letting us know that they are displeased.

As Megan stated, all the moderators have their contact information on the user info page and she even repeated hers in the post. If anyone has a question and doesn't want to put it in the community, I know I'd welcome any questions via my contact info, as would the rest of us.
